How To Write A Strong English Essay In Years 9 And 10

How To Write A Strong English Essay In Years 9 And 10 Memorising essays gets a little controversial but I think we all agree that you need to, at least, have a few ideas and potential essay structures going into that exam room. Some of us will try to remember whole essays word-for-word which isn’t officially recommended but as long as you are prepared to adapt it to the question then it shouldn’t be too bad. Opt-in for an essay online and receive a fully custom-built paper that meets all your requirements. People will understand better, rather than when you are trying to explain it in your own words. Another way of making your essay interesting and engaging to your reader is by using relevant evidence, such as statistics. The reader will see that you took your time to research and now you understand the point. Create a list at the end of the paper where you acknowledge all the books and articles you referred to in your own written piece. If need be, keep checking the title of your essay to remind yourself to stick to the purpose of the essay. This will confuse your reader as you go back and forth with your ideas. Focus on the topic and the purpose of your essay. Readers will get bored if you are writing on a dry subject matter. If your topic is just boring, you can bring some life in it by using, illustrations or statistics. And essays don’t emerge, fully formed, like Athena from Zeus’s head. No student can create such an essay in one draft. To get there, we tell our students, they’ll need a meaningful, effective, multistep writing process. Practice timed essay writing with sample test questions before test day. And the reader will find the paper more interesting. Choose a topic that's appropriate to the paper’s length. Avoid broad topics as you cannot cover them fully due to the limited number of words. If you're writing a four‐page essay, don't retell the whole history of women's rights. Instead, narrow it down to a more specific subject like one important incident in the women's rights movement. A tutor will be pleased to receive an authentic paper in due time. Take advantage of first-class writing at a reasonable price. Any student can afford an essay from our site anytime. Start placing an order now and we’ll offer you the best price to date. The sooner you make an order â€" the less your essay will cost. It is important to have a topic that is specific enough that finding sources is relatively easy, but broad enough that you can write many pages about it. As an example, I wrote a 12-page paper on the effect of World War II on the rights of women in American society. Had I selected a more vague topic like “American Women in the 1930s and 1940s”, it would have been a far more difficult essay to write. Avoid losing focus and concentration in your essay. If you don’t cite the sources, you might be accused of plagiarism. At this stage of essay writing, focus primarily on the content. Take your time and organize the information you have in a logical narration based on the outline. If you don't care about reducing alcohol advertising, don't pick this topic for a persuasive essay. If you decide to write about something that matters to you, you will sound more convincing. You also won’t have to wait till an expert in your subject is free. There’s always a writer to pick up your order within a couple of minutes after you made a payment. We’re confident enough that you’ll enjoy the essay written for you. But we know things happen, that’s why we offer the money-back to any customer looking for one. But what we’ve just described is a final essay -- that is, a product. With a little practice, you may not feel as pressured by the clock on test day. As you write and gather more evidence, your thesis statement may change â€" and that’s okay! Thesis statements are not set in stone; they are meant to change as the paper develops.

Save a few minutes at the end of each timed task to check for obvious errors. The Analytical Writing measure tests your critical thinking and analytical writing skills. Ask yourself how you can combine these two parts â€" the focus of the paragraph and your thesis. You have your ideas, your thesis, and your examples. But first, we need to discuss what essays are and how they should work. Please do not use this list as a model for the format of your own reference list, as it may not match the citation style you are using. For guidance on formatting citations, please see the UNC Libraries citation tutorial. We revise these tips periodically and welcome feedback. Finally, having followed her sketch outline and written her paper, Alex turns to writing a conclusion. From our handout on conclusions, she knows that a “that’s my story and I’m sticking to it” conclusion doesn’t move her ideas forward.

Easy Guide To Writing A Killer 500 Word Essay

Easy Guide To Writing A Killer 500 Word Essay However, while those two types of essays to share a lot of features, they are also very different in nature. Discursive writing is the process of describing different sides of an argument in an attempt to find the correct one. Revising involves rethinking your ideas, refining your arguments, reorganizing paragraphs, and rewording sentences. You may need to develop your ideas in more detail, give more evidence to support your claims, or delete material that is unnecessary. You need to go beyond just describing and summarising, you must critically analyse the topic. The writer followed all my instructions and created a brilliant essay, I would say. What I like most of all, no one suspects even that my essay wasn't written by me. Your second paragraph generally begins the body of the paper. This paragraph should begin with a topic sentence that introduces the first supporting idea . An essay explores a topic and reaches a conclusion. It needs to contain a central argument which is your answer to the question or topic. The argument must be based on reliable evidence and be supported throughout your essay. It’s important that the paragraphs flow from one to the next to form a cohesive essay. After you gather your research, think about how you want to organize it. A simple five-paragraph essay should begin with an introductory paragraph, include three paragraphs presenting information or arguments, and end with a concluding paragraph. If your essay is longer than five paragraphs, it should still begin with an introductory paragraph and end with a concluding paragraph. You should use the middle of the paragraph to discuss your support, give examples, and analyze the significance of these examples. Your last sentence of the body paragraph could be used to draw a conclusion for that supporting idea, or to transition into the next paragraph. Each paragraph of the body of your discursive essay must be dedicated to a separate idea. Place the main idea at the beginning of the paragraph, add a summary of the argument, and attach the supporting evidence from credible sources. Last year, 99% of all our orders were delivered on time and this year our goal is 100% timely delivery. When considering how to write an academic essay, don’t wait until the last minute to begin your research. You may find that the information you need isn’t readily accessible online, so you might need to visit your local library or conduct more in-depth searches online. Persuasive essays are used to make an argument or persuade the reader to feel a certain way or believe something specific. Whichever angle you select to tell your story, highlight the most important things that have shaped and continue to shape your identity. You’re not alone -- that’s the life of a quintessential college student. With looming deadlines and complicated essays, students are under immense pressure and left feeling stressed. Each paragraph in the body of the essay should focus on one separate idea. When you are creating your outline, you can arrange the ideas in these paragraphs in a number of ways, such as chronologically or from least important to most important. It’s vital to write down or save the bibliographic information for all your sources, including websites. This information includes the author’s name, the title of the article or webpage, the page numbers , the date on which the source was published, and the URL . When you write your essay, you will likely need to refer back to this information and include it at the end of your paper. In general, the information on wiki sites isn’t trustworthy because anyone can change that information at any time. However, visiting the sources linked at the bottom of a wiki page is a great way to find reputable sources. So how to start a discursive essay introduction the right way? A good idea is to use a hook as the first sentence of the introduction. Then you need to provide a brief overview of the problem, as well as the sides of the argument you want to discuss further. From the description and the structure of a discursive essay, it may seem like it’s exactly the same as an argumentative essay.

The Ultimate Guide To Essay Writing

The Ultimate Guide To Essay Writing In the writing process, you will need to use examples, draw parallels, and discuss associations. To effectively achieve this, it is necessary to employ the use of metaphors, similes, allegories, symbolisms, or other methods of comparison. In order to make it unique and captivating to the reader, it is also important to inject unexpected angles or unpredictable conclusions. An essay differs from other projects both within and beyond academia in the sense that you need to come up with a product of your own unique creativity. Here, you have an avenue of expressing your personal view on something that you have observed, read about or experienced. Research does not just involve digital or written sources, but also other sources like interviews, podcasts, lessons and speeches. Remember that primary sources are more authoritative than secondary sources. It is the depth and quality of your research that will help you grasp the scope of the theme and the strengths and weaknesses of your argument. If so, you can start building your case from there. Therefore try as much as possible to remain meticulous in your review. Remember, you do not have to be verbose to make the essay clear and interesting. Ensure that your thesis statement is not too long. Maintain logic and coherence and fluidity in the style you use for the reader to easily move from one point to another. When you reach the conclusion, restate the thesis in a summarized form. This is the piece of writing that trains you further in developing your communication skills by increasing your reader's awareness with your knowledge and insight. A friend recommended this service to me, now I'm recommending it to you â€" simple ordering, fast support, high content quality. The title is the starting point of the process and this needs to be developed in such a way that you are able to systematically show the relationship between the whole and its parts. The more objective and unbiased the opinions presented, the more credible the essay. Supportive facts, examples, statistics, expert opinions and other elements are key to making the essay a success. What exactly is the difference between an analytical essay and an evaluation essay? Your responsibility is to analyze the subject at hand systematically and then explain it by providing examples of the main points and giving proper analogies. So beyond just checking for spelling errors, you are looking for anything that could potentially put off the reader. One effective way of making sure you do not miss anything is reading the paper out loud and then correct accordingly as you move along. Well, the latter moves beyond simply explaining what the subject is or how it works and delves into how valuable it is. Critical has its roots from the Greek word 'kritikus' which means 'to discern'. This is the essay that challenges the concepts behind an issue. Here, the evidence you use to back up the facts you present should be up-to-date and relevant. Why Kids Cant Write

Why Kids Can’t Write An effective way to argue a point can be to present the opposing view first then counter this view with stronger evidence. Let’s look at one of the paragraphs from the chocolate essay to see how the text is an interplay of the internal voice of the writer and the external voices of other authors. The Topic Sentence should unambiguously express the topic of the paragraph and be linked with the overall thesis of the essay. The best descriptive essays appeal to the reader’s emotions, with a result that is highly evocative. You don’t have to stay in one place and write from beginning to end. Give yourself the freedom to write as if you’re circling around your topic rather than making a single, straightforward argument. Then, when you edit, you can make sure everything lines up correctly. The tutors reading and marking your essays deserve your consideration. They will be reading and marking many, many student essays. The conclusion reminds your reader of the main points made in your essay and leaves your reader with a final impression and ideas to think about later. ‘Compare’ often appears with ‘contrast’ in essay questions.ContrastShow the differences between two sets of information or arguments. ‘Contrast’ often appears with ‘compare’ in essay questions.CriticiseEvaluate an argument or a text to see if it is good. ‘Criticise’ does not mean you have to be negative.CritiqueEvaluate an argument or a text to see if it is good. A good dictionary is the writer’s friend â€" spell checks cannot always be relied on. Your grammar (sentence structure, use of vocabulary…) should be considered carefully, as should punctuation. Underpinning the structure will be the ‘argument’ your essay is making. Again this may be strong and obvious, or it may be almost invisible, but it needs to be there. In different subject areas, and with different styles of writing, the term ‘argument’ may seem more or less relevant. However, even in those essays that appear to be highly creative, unscientific, or personal, an argument of some kind is being made. To start you off, and to minimise the likelihood of writer’s block, a useful exercise is to do a ‘brainstorm’ of all your ideas in connection with the essay title. It can be a way of making a lot of progress quite quickly. Examples of this type of essay include questions which ask you to take a position on a topic, such as a particular decision or policy, and present arguments which support your position. ‘Critique’ does not mean you have to be negative.DefineExplain the meaning of a word or a term, especially in the context of your essay. We hope you found your required topic to participate in essay writing in English at school events. Essays should be presented word processed as directed on A4 paper. Slang and jargon should not be used and long, rambling sentences should be avoided. The conclusion should not just repeat the ideas from the introduction. The introduction includes the background to the essay, the important issues and a thesis statement. The introduction leads your reader into the essay. Together with research and planning, these areas make an impression on the reader. Some assignments, and most examination answers, will be required to be presented in the form of an essay. An essay is a continuous piece of writing in which ideas, propositions, research and justifications are put forward and analysed in the form of a series of paragraphs. If you make your argument hard to follow, so that they need to re-read a paragraph to try to make sense of what you have written, you will cause irritation, and make their job slower. Realistically, it is possible that they may even decide not to make that effort. It is your task to present your argument in a way that your audience can follow; it is not your audience’s job to launch an investigation to detect the points you are trying to make.

4 Common Types Of Essays You

4 Common Types Of Essays You You may feel that you are repeating yourself, as the body of your essay should have made your argument clear already, but the reader will appreciate a good summary. Remember that good essays don’t just give evidence for their point of view, but also demonstrate why opposing views are flawed. Imagine a reader, then try to predict their objections to your argument, and then demonstrate why they are wrong. A well-structured essay should consist of a series of paragraphs that progress logically through the series of points that you intend to cover. Write an answer to the question in just one or two sentences â€" this can form the basis your thesis statement or argument. This is the main point of your paragraph and everything within this paragraph should relate back to it. Originality is one of the hardest things to achieve in an essay, but any effort you make at being original will be noticed by the marker. Welcome to Writing Essays, the RLF’s online guide to everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask about writing undergraduate essays. Michael recommends that you begin writing your essay by expanding your plan. 'You may find it helpful to write the conclusion first, especially if you know exactly what it is you want to argue,' he adds. 'This can help you to clarify your ideas and also give you something to work towards. Linear plans are useful for essays requiring a rigid structure. Even if you do come across a lot of interesting material when researching for your essay, be selective. Interesting material won’t gain you extra marks unless it is relevant. Good essay writing is a skill acquired rather than learnt. Approaches vary from person to person and will depend on one’s experience in essay writing, almost to the point where a style of writing will be as individual as a signature. Writing Essays does not cover every type of writing you will do at university but it does cover the principal types. Obviously, the difficult part is working out what that order should be. In essence, an essay is an argument, so your structure should be based on the particulars of your argument. Although this may sound obvious, a lot of essays lose marks for containing material that is simply irrelevant. Make sure that you read the assignment sheet thoroughly and are sure about what it asks for before you start reading for the essay. While you are reading, bear in mind what sort of material you are looking for in order to address the assigned topic. So you will find guides to essay writing, dissertation writing, and report writing. You will also find a section dealing with the differences between writing for the humanities and writing for the sciences and social sciences. The information and guidelines in these sections will provide blueprints you can apply elsewhere. The guide is a toolbox of essay writing skills and resources that you can choose from to suit your particular needs. That is, it tells you what things mean and what they are; and it uses examples to show you how they work. This doesn’t mean that you have to invent a new theory each time you write an essay. Your essay should have a definite ending, in the form of a conclusion. Here you should summarize what it is that you have said in your essay, stating what your answer to the question is and why. Often, there is no simple answer (which is why you are writing an essay, and not a two-mark answer on a class test), so you should state what the complexities of the issue are. They provide a chronological breakdown of the key points you're going to address. This means that, when writing your essay, you can progress through these points. It's up to you to decide which essay writing strategy to adopt but pick the one that works best for you. 'Many successful essay writers plan consciously and deliberately, and commit to extensive notes, lists or mind maps,' he says. 'Some - those who work less consciously - may have a very sketchy plan. If you are struggling to write the introduction, reword the essay question in your own words. Essays are a widely used form of assessment that is used by lecturers. 5 Tips To Write A Better Essay

5 Tips To Write A Better Essay Familiarise yourself with the module rubric and assessment notificationâ€" Your teachers will not set you a question that is completely unexpected. They must draw the ideas and terms of the question from the Stage 6 Preliminary English Module rubrics that we looked at previously in Part 1. Knowing the details of these rubrics will enable you to unpack the question’s module concerns with relative ease and focus on the textual aspects of the question. You already have your thesisâ€" You just need to polish the wording of it. Don’t worry, it may sound like a lot, but it isn’t really. Let’s have a look at some of the practical steps that Year 11 Matrix English students learn in class. I dreaded starting this essay since my teacher has assigned it to me. Even a master class from Dan Brown would not help me to write this good. It is more about words that wake up the imagination of a reader. Challenge our experts with the most complex assignments. We make sure the content we deliver is plagiarism-free. The software we developed checks every paper for your convenience. Leo Tolstoy wrote so many novels and short stories that I did not know which one to choose. Once you’ve written an essay, you will need to edit it. In the next post, we’ll have a look at how to proof and edit your work in detail. Know your textâ€" The easiest way to fail an essay is to not know your text well. Make sure that you have studied it in depth and revised all of the themes that you can discern. If you’re unsure, read Textual Analysis â€" How to Analyse Your English Texts for Evidence. Introductions and conclusions are very important because they are the first and last words that your marker read. First impressions and final impressions matter, so it is very important to get them right! So, we need to know what an introduction needs to do. I randomly chose this company and have no regrets. I had to cancel my order because of my teacher's new instructions. Luckily, I could do it with getting a full refund. I hope my new order is going to work alright this time. I did not find large mistakes so I guess the quality is fine, but I still cannot be totally sure about it. Explain the relevance of the critic â€" Don’t just quote critics, explain in detail why you disagree or agree with them. Whenever possible, use an example to support your position. Topic Sentences and Linking Statements guide your marker through your essay. Make sure you relate the introduction to the Module. Recap your supporting ideas and the approach you took to them . The only thing that bothers me is the pricing policy. I can't say that this is a masterpiece but the essay look nice. I had to ask for a couple of revisions but everything worked out in the end. This is one of those times when it is better to pay than to try doing everything by yourself. I'm more than satisfied with the results of this experience. It was new for me, I was afraid that nothing was going to be the way I wanted. But all of my concerns were pointless, I'm happy. I know there is an important midterm essay coming so wait for my order, it will come soon.

How To Write A 3,000 Word Essay In A Day

How To Write A 3,000 Word Essay In A Day Part of the skill in report writing is to know what to leave out as well as include. You may lose marks if your report is too long or too short. All reports should have an introduction, main body, divided into sections, a conclusion and, sometimes, recommendations. Reports are designed to be selective in information given, and the correct compilation and layout of a report is arguably as important as the material it contains. A final check for grammar and punctuation errors is always time well spent, since grading is influenced by the appropriate use of standard English. The last thing you should do before handing in your essay is to proofread it. It is often useful to let someone else read it and listen to their comments, as well as reading it through out loud to yourself. Single pieces of paper for single points, allocated to group headings later. Spider/pattern â€" Draw a diagram with the subject of the essay written in a central circle or box.

Essay In English

Essay In English Be aware whilst you’re reading that all arguments and authors are fallible. Think about the text you’re reading and think how you might respond to it. Think about the strongest possible response to the claim you’ve put forward, then beat that. If you’re making a claim, you need to tell me why that claim is correct. Think of a potential response to your argument, perhaps from an author you’re arguing against. The title page should contain information to enable your lecturer and departmental office or other reader to identify exactly what the piece of work is. It should include your name and course; the title of the assignment and any references; the lecturer it is for etc. Check with your department for clear information. It should clearly signal to the reader that the essay is finished and leave a clear impression that the purpose of the essay has been achieved. Before you start the main part of your essay or assignment, there should be a title page. This is the single easiest way to get more marks. If I see an argument citing an author whom nobody else has mentioned, and it’s a decent argument, it will make my day. You will save yourself literally days over the course of your university career. Once you’ve written the whole essay, read over it again. Look at every premise you’ve used and claim you’ve made. They allow you to reference as you write, and you can create and reformat your bibliography and citations at the touch of a button. Finally, make sure you formulate every claim in the strongest possible terms. Don’t make your opponent look like they have no arguments, or take the weakest version of their argument. There are basically two main ways to organise this type of essay. At the end of the essay, there should be a list of references. This should give full information about the materials that you have used in the assignment. If you type your paper on a computer, print out a copy to proofread. Cheating on the ACT What Happens if You Cheat on the ACT

What happens if you cheat on the ACT? Well, nothing good. But in most cases, cheating on the ACT is actually not the end of the world (though the actual police CAN arrest youmore on this laterso dont do it!). What happens depends on who reports your cheating, and how, though the consequences will end up being pretty much the same—it just might take longer before the ACT opens an investigation. What Constitutes Cheating on the ACT? Cheating on the ACT ranges from the blatant (copying answers from another test-taker) to the less blatant (going back to a previous section after time is called). Other behaviors can also disqualify you. Talking during the test isnt good, for one. Bringing in outside materialsespecially if you use themis also bad. FYI: This includes anything written on your hand/shoe/sleeve. There might be a perfectly reasonable explanation why you have the Pythagorean Theorem scrawled on your index finger, but do you really want to be in a position where you have to explain it? How Did I Get Caught? If you did end up displaying one of those suspicious behaviors, the red flags can go up in a variety of ways. The test proctor might report your cheating to the company. There are hotlines for other students who have noticed cheating to call. If your guidance counselor or a teacher suspects you were cheating, he or she may also call in. On the other hand, if youre caught red-handed, during the test, the proctor will confiscate your test. If youre caught after youve finished the test, your scores will be cancelled. Even if you think you got away with cheating, you may still be in hot water. A score that increases dramatically in a short period of time may set off red flags at the ACT headquarters. For example, if you get a 15 one month and a 35 the next, it might look suspicious. The time period is within 20 months, so you may have legitimately improved your score in this time (in which case, congrats!), but dont worryif its legit, youll have the chance to prove it. The testmakers may compare your answers to the answers of those seated around you. If you have an unusual number of similar answers, you may also be accused of cheating. And dont think about paying someone to take the test for you-—if this happens, even if you can get around ID regulations, the test-maker may even call in handwriting experts to analyze the writing in the exam booklet. But I Didnt Cheat! But if you didnt cheat on the ACT, and have been accused of it, youll have a chance to make your case. The company will pose questions to you. If you answer them satisfactorily, the case is closed and you keep your score. On the other hand, if not, youll have a chance to retake the ACT for free. Then, if your new score is within 3 points of your old score, youll get to keep the old score. Alternatively, if you can provide an explanation and documentation of how you raised your scores so much, thatll also work. Okay, I Cheated. If you did cheat on the ACT? In the best-case scenario, you can cancel your scores and pay to take the test again. The Washington Post reports that the ACT wont report cheating to a college or university that has already accepted you. In the worst-case scenario—for example, in one New York case—you can have charges filed against you and possibly even get arrested (its fraud, people). Bottom line? Dont do it. For an ACT Cheat Sheet you CAN actually use, check out our video post.

Where The Wild Things Are Written And Illustrated By...

Where the Wild Things Are written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak, is one of my all-time favorite children’s book because as a little girl, I remember before going to bed and picking out this book for my father to read to me. My father had a wonderful speaking voice that allowed for these characters to come alive in my mind. I could imagine being the protagonist character Max, and sailing off to place full monsters and mystery. There is a part in the middle of the story called â€Å"The Wild Rumpus† and during that time, my father would start making drumming noises to help me imagine the monsters and Max dancing in the forest. His story telling voice and music making helped this book come to life. For those reasons, this book will always be†¦show more content†¦The monsters and context behind the story may be a little too much for beginning readers but all in all it is a good story. Even though the story itself about a young child going to world full of mo nsters is not a real life scenario, the pure and innocent imagination of going to a world full of acceptance is believable. All children have the sense of imagination. It is what drives them to have fun and hope in a world that they live in. The character Max, is a character that most children and even adults can relate to. In the story, Max seems like a real-life child that just wants to have fun and imagine of worlds that have people like him. I understood his reasons for wanting to imagine of a world where he is accepted because coming from a family that was divorced, I wanted an escape and imagined a world full of adventure and love. In the story, Max also grew to understand that all you have in life is your family. Even though they can be harsh, parents will almost always love you for who you are. The only thing that I thing that I believed the story lacked, was more interaction and background knowledge from the â€Å"Wild Things†. The monsters did not have much if an y character development. I believe that it would have added to the plot of the story. Maurice Sendak’s use of visual elements helped make this story set a realistic setting of the real and imaginative world Max believed in. New England As A Refuge For Puritans Essay - 1984 Words

Each group of early English settlers brought its own set of values and aspirations to the Americas. In various regards, some were more successful than others in establishing and maintaining their desired way of life. In building my own colony, I would seek to ensure the greater good rather than give in to the corruptive influence of materialistic desires. Colonial America can be divided into three distinct regions of concern: New England, the Middle Colonies, and the South. New England was a region with some aspirations of profit, but these aspirations were largely overshadowed by a desire to reform or purify English religion. Massachusetts was founded by John Winthrop as a refuge for Puritans escaping persecution. The Puritans were successful in promoting education, creating a sense of social cohesion, establishing a centralized form of government, and fostering a strong work ethic. However, the Puritans were limited by their demand for uniformity and assimilation. Only members of t he Church, male members specifically, had any decision-making power. Religious fervor readily fed into hysteria when others failed to engage in traditional practices or beliefs, leading to many exiles and even death. The Puritans also failed to pass on their ideals to future generations. Younger Puritans did inherit a strong sense of work ethic, but it was more oriented towards profit than proving their salvation. The colony thus could not achieve its long term goals. Rana Plaza Business Organization and Policy

Questions: On April 24 2013, 1134 people were killed and 2,500 were injured when the Rana Plaza building in Savar, Bangladesh collapsed on top of garment workers inside its factories. It would be known as the worst accident in the garment industry anywhere. This happened only five months after a horrific fire at a similar facility prompted leading multinational brands to pledge to work to improve safety in the countrys booming but poorly regulated garment industry. Labour groups, Western clothing companies, the Bangladeshi government and others have made some progress toward preventing similar tragedies, but more still needs to be done. There was never any doubt that improving working conditions in Bangladesh, one of the worlds poorest countries, would be incredibly difficult. The collapse of Rana Plaza was just one, though by far the worst in a series of industrial accidents in Bangladeshs garment industry, which has become one of the biggest exporters of clothes to the United States and Europe because of its low wages. It was later discovered that 28 brands that sourced clothes from the plaza included Primark, Bennetton, Mango, Matalan and Bonmache, prompting public concern about the working conditions of garment factories around the world which contribute to western high street fashion stores. Ethical consumerism encourages people to think about how the products they buy are sourced and produced which are not harmful to the environment and society. This can be evidenced through simply purchasing eggs that are free-range or boycotting goods/companies which promote child labour or unsavoury working conditions. Ethical consumerism is a growing market. A recent report from the Co-operative Bank showed a third of UK consumers claiming to be concerned about ethical consumption, with a large number of the public willing to challenge and boycott companies which do not comply with ethical standards. Required to write an analytical business report that covers the following tasks: Task 1 Discuss the ways in which companies, like the ones mentioned in the extract above, that sourced clothes from the Rana Plaza can help improve business practices to prevent recurrence of events of this nature. Task 2 Choose any company, research and evidence how they operate ethically, taking into account their approach to consumerism, values and environmental friendliness. Answers: Executive Summary This report has depth with the ethics and principles that Rana Plaza didnt follow and that lead to the collapse. Companies like Rana plaza need to follow the basic rules of employment and wages. The global companies receive low cost products from Bangladesh and other poor countries. This needs to be stopped and these companies also need to look into the suppliers working conditions. If caught that the suppliers are practicing unethical ways and are not into SR rule, boycott of those companies need to be done. This report deals with the ethical consumerism of LOreal products along with the ethics that this company follows that starts from manufacturing to selling of the products. LOreal maintains the trend of satisfying the customers with their natural products but also focuses on producing the cosmetic products using high class technology and clinically proven so that it doesnt harm the skin of the users. In addition to this, LOreal is very specific about saving the animals and not testing the products on the animals. Moreover, the company also uses reusable, as well as recycled product bottles and containers for reducing the environmental pollution and has taken strong steps in the favor of reducing carbon footprint. Introduction Tyagi and Kumar (2008) commented on the fact that ethical consumerism is one of the most essential parts that need to be considered as it affects the business organization strongly. Previously Ethical consumerism is a generous word but in modern times ethical consumerism is essential for removing concepts regarding the typecasting of product selling according to personal choices. Ethical consumerism is the consumption that takes into consideration the issues that are related to human rights, animal welfare as well as social justice (Zemke, 2008). This report deals with the unethical ways that Rana Plaza used to follow in the factory that lead to the downfall of the company. So, the report is focused on the issues that companies such as Rana Plaza need to implement in their business for enhancing the CSR activities. In addition to this the report takes into account the concepts of ethical consumerism of LOreal which is a cosmetic industry along with the overviews of the company. Task 1 Rana Plaza Garment Factory that was established in Bangladesh collapsed on 24th April, 2013. It killed nearly 1134 people and injured nearly 2500 people. Though the 8 storied building was built for the purpose of offices as well as shops but at all for factories. The labors of the garment factory initially didnt want to enter the factory due to large cracks on the walls but were forced to go inside by beating them up ad by threatening them for not paying. The investigation team reported that on that very day nearly at 8:45 am, there was a power cut that led to the starting of five generators. Immediately after that the building fell down with a loud thud (Henniker, 2014). According to the comment of Alom (2012) the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), the MNCs need to be focused regarding the morals, rules and regulations. The Rana Plaza Garment Factory was very much unethical in their approach. On the basis of ethical consumerism, it is to be remembered that the people are free to choose any kind of profession and they cannot be compelled. It is to be noticed that the factory supplied clothes to the global companies such as Primark, Bonmache, Matalan, Mango etc. So, according to the rules of ETI, Timm (2009) commented that these companies need to initially take steps and enough information of the suppliers regarding their working condition, the working place, salary or wages to the labors and also about working hours. The working condition of the Rana Plaza was so bad and unhygienic as well as pressurized along with unethical, that the workers never treated like humans. In addition to this, Wright (2006) commented on the fact that the consumers are free to boycott any products that they think is linked with unethical behavior. In this process, the consumers blend towards choosing more and more goods that are manufactured ethically. So, the companies trading globally always needs to focus on the Corporate Social Responsibility or precisely CSR for enhancing these practices that will help in taking the responsibility to see whether the suppliers are transparent, fair, and maintains sustainability (Dawar and Philip 2008). It is the responsibility of the global organizations to maintain ethical consumerism such as if it sees that the suppliers are using unethical ways of business, and then they need to boycott all those companies. In addition to this, Becker et al. (2009) commented on the fact that the fair labor, honoring the human rights, protection of human health, sustainability, advertising, ethical marketing, recyclable packaging etc. are all considered in ethical consumerism. Moreover, ethical consumerism also includes the activities that are related to price, quality as well as payment techniques of the cosmetic industry that is doing business globally (Corstjens and Lal, 2008). Tungate (2008) commented on the fact that in order to improve the business and practices within it, the companies like Rana Plaza need to adopt ethical measures regarding the employee satisfaction, employee retention as well as employee safety. Buildings that are built for shops and offices need to be used for that purpose only and the factories built for that purpose also need to be used for that purpose. This gives a safety to the labors and employees working over there. Fixed working hours along with fixed holidays also need to be given that will not only improve the working conditions, but also will improve the employee retention. Task 2 Ethical Consumerism According to Balaram and Adhikari (2010) the terminology ethical consumerism can be defined as fair trading that involves the moralities that are accepted globally and influences the purchasing decisions to the maximum extent. Dawar and Philip (2008) opined that now days the world is becoming more fashionable and trendy and in order to keep oneself beautiful, gorgeous and attractive, the customers now days are trending Moreover, LOreal also has received many awards as well as recognitions due to ethical consumerism, sustainable strategy development, ethics as well as product innovation that all are included in ethical consumerism (Carpenter and Fairhurst, 2009). LOreal is French Cosmetic Company having its headquartered in France and has developed a good marketing team that is concentrated on cosmetics. The company involved high class technology in production of the products that involves dermatology, tissue engineering, toxicology as well as nanotechnology along with biopharmaceutical research team for production of organic and natural products. The company is ethical in their approach and is produces products in the most ethical way (Bearden and Teel, 2007). The ethical considerations that the cosmetic industry LOreal are adopting are as follows- Usage of natural products keeping focus on the customers - Berry (2007) commented on the fact that in this modern world, with the increasing trend of becoming fashionable, the consumers lean towards the products that are made from natural ingredients. It is statistically seen that the market regarding the usage of natural products has risen to nearly 20% (Boulding et al. 2010). To keep a pace with the modern trend and emerging environmental friendliness, the global companies should adopt the usages of natural ingredients for manufacturing the products. Chang et al. (2010) commented on the fact that the LOreal is very ethical in their trading. The ingredients that are used for manufacturing the products are all clinically tested and have passed the dermatological tests. Through innovative research and laboratory tests, the natural ingredients are tested in the laboratory before using those ingredients in the product (Dahln et al. 2010). Employee Engagement and development- Alvarez and Casielles (2008) commented on the fact that LOreal is very much focused on the employee engagement within the organization. In order to engage the employees and keep the employees within the organization in order to retain them, LOreal pays incentives to the employees and is also focused regarding the problems faced by the employees. Timely salary, fair incentive structure, small get together of the employees is conducted in order to engaged the employees as well as maintain a healthy relationship with one another. According to Becker et al. (2009) the more the employees will be retained within the organization, the more the company will be developed. Positive working environment (Safety, Diversity as well as integrity) - The more the organization will be having a positive working environment sand culture, the more the employees will be satisfied working there. According to Berry (2007) the better the working environment will, the better the employees will be retained. In addition to this, the safety measures also need to be integrated into the company that LOreal has already done for retaining the employees and making them feel safe. The positive working environment gives a positive vibes to the employees that help the employees in working fair (Vavra, 2008). No testing on the animals- According to Vavra (2008) previously, animals like guinea pigs, white mouse etc were used in the laboratory for testing the products on them. Now days, it is a global ban to use the animals in the laboratory for testing purposes and this law is enforced worldwide. Tungate (2008) commented on the fact that still there are certain companies who dont follow any kind of ethical considerations and uses animals for testing purposes. From that side, LOreal is very clear since it is ethical company and is totally abided by the international laws of protection of animals. (Wolf, 2009). Banning the usage of disposable packaging and usage of reusable and recycled packages- You (2008) commented on the fact that the usages of disposable packages are another major issue that is totally unethical. In this modern world, people have become more concerned towards the environment and lean towards the products that are ethically manufactured and sold. It has seen statistically that the disposable products add nearly 46% of the waste to the environment. These products are generally made of bad plastics and other bad materials which on disposal cant be reused or destroyed but on contrary they continuously add pollution to the society and environment (Wilson, 2008). Reducing the carbon footprint and adoption of CSR- According to Wagner and Zubey (2006) reduction of carbon footprints is essential to reduce since it adds the environment a high level of pollution. It is to be remembered that the company needs to be ethical in its approach since the customers now days are very ethical in their decisions of making purchases. The more the company will be ethical; more the customers will be satisfied with the company that will ultimately lead to the huge customer database. Zikmund (2008) commented that LOreal is very much ethical in their business and are also environmental friendly. For that it takes strong measures fir reducing the carbon footprints. The waste of the company are also processed and treated well before disposal. This proves that the company is inclined towards environmental friendliness. Triple Bottom Line Concept- Anderson and Cunningham (2008) commented on the fact that this TBL concept consists of three parts- social, environmental as well as economic. LOreal follows the TBL that covers up the people, planet as well as profit. Bateman (2007) had an opinion that the companies include the healthy and safe place for the people to work methodically. The company also focuses on minimizing the pollution that the company emits from the waste materials LOreal is highly focused in it so treats the waste materials before disposing. Moreover, LOreal operates while keeping in mind the profit of the organization. But for doing that, the company also keeps in mind the customer satisfaction while taking up the profit of the company. Sustainability- In order to sustain in this competitive world, LOreal has taken measures that help the organization in reaching to its maximum extent. According to Willemsen (2011) LOreal is having a sustainable market position and sales that help the company in reaching to the maximum level. Conclusion This report has well explained the collapse of Rana Plaza factory that was when collapsed injured as well as killed many labors. This was somewhat an eye opener to many of the MNCs. The global companies also need to understand the business ethics as well as ethical consumerism that enhance the CSR practices within their suppliers. If it would have been done, then Rana Plaza incident would not have happened. The Throughout the report it is seen that the LOreal is very much inclined towards the ethical consumerism and has adopted several measures for manufacturing as well as selling the products ethically to the customers. The company has adopted many ethical considerations such as reducing the carbon footprint, as well as adopted CSR. In addition to this, the other ethical measures that are adopted are: usage of natural ingredients, usage of recyclable products as well as no testing on animals. Recommendations In order to stop the incidents like Rana plaza, the companies need to be ethical in their approach and also need to be abided by ETI rules. By doing this, it will fix the employees working hours, leaves, salary, and wages etc that are abided by the employment rules. Moreover, the traders can boycott those companies. This will teach them a lesson and hence forth will be an eye opener to many other companies. The company can endorse the celebrities and can show them how the products are produced. Through advertisements, a part of their manufacturing procedure can be shown to the customers. This will help the organization in reaching the extreme level of honor among the global customers. Why Did a Stalemate Develop on the Western Front free essay sample

Why did a stalemate develop on the Western Front? Stalemate during war is when no action can be taken or progress made. The Stalemate on the Western front, a line of trenches stretching from the Swiss Alps all the way across France to Nieuwpoort in Belgium, was a dilemma that was not foreseen by either the allies or Germany. Originally it had been predicted that the war would be over after a quick and decisive battle, this perception was quickly diminished once the war had begun. No one reason explains why the situation on the western front developed into a stalemate but many factors can be considered. The developments in weaponry have been said to have contributed to the Stalemate. In the early twentieth century many new and effective weapons were being developed. Long range heavy artillery had been proved much more effective than the mounted rifle wielding soldiers of previous centuries. This â€Å"race† for new technology led to the two sides being approximately evenly matched, because of this neither side could make much head way. Also, the Generals in charge of the troops were mostly aged officers whose knowledge of modern weapons was limited. The fast moving nature of modern warfare had taken them by and led to rather outdated methods being used. So even though new weapons were evadible if they were not used effectively they were useless. The problem with advanced warfare and having similar types of weapons was that it was really machine against machine thus getting an upper hand was virtually impossible. Problems in communications also contributed towards the stalemate because the connections between the front line, the artillery and the Commanders were very poor. Most of the Generals were stationed several miles away from the front line, due to this they could not get a clear idea of what was going on amongst the troops. This delay and confusion on the battlefield made it hard to get an objective perspective on the battle. Sometimes the different nationalities such as the French and British found it hard communicating with one another this made it difficult to co-ordinate and pass on orders. As a result of all this the messages taken from the commanders to the front line were often out of date by the time they reached the trenches. The failure of the Schlieffen plan played one of the most important roles in bringing about the stalemate on the western front. Firstly, Russian forces had mobilised much faster than previously supposed they would, this miscalculation meant that Germany had to redeploy troops to the eastern front when they still needed the force to defeat France. Due to this Germanys forces were stretched and did not have the man power to break the French lines, all they could do to stop themselves from being pushed back through the Franco-German border was entrench. This resulted in the two forces entering a state of static warfare, fighting in this way makes it virtually impossible to gain any land. Secondly, the Germany army was slowed down by Belgium. The Germans had assumed that the Belgians would not put up a fight because their country was neutral. This was not the case as Belgium decided to fight, poorly equipped as they were. This did not stop the Germans but it did give the French troops time to prepare, thus losing the German troops the element of surprise. Lastly, because the German troops had advanced so fast through Belgium their supply trains had found it hard to keep up with the troops this resulted in them being under equipped and poorly prepared. The outcome of the battle of the Marne was one of the most important causes of the stalemate. As the French effort to attack across the border failed they resorted to a retreat to defend Paris. As a result of this the German forces were obliged to quit their arcing motion to meet the French at the river Marne. The relatively well equipped French were fighting on their own land and the Germans, as explained above were poorly prepared and had a severe shortage of men. When a gap was spotted between the German Second and First Armies by reconnaissance planes the French and British forces took advantage of the situation by launching a night time attack which served to separate the two armies even further. When it looked like the Germany would be almost entirely encircled and destroyed, they retreated, pursued by the French and British, to just north of the river Aisne where they built trenches that were to last for several years. This act effectively destroyed the Schlieffen plan and ended the so called war of movement. After the First Battle of the Marne, both Allied and German forces began a series of outflanking manoeuvres to try to get behind the enemy. As each manoeuvre was blocked they moved further through France and eventually reached the coast. This later became known as the â€Å"Race to the sea†. As neither force could break the others lines the offensive came to a relative standstill. This would remain so for approximately the next four years. This lack of progress obviously played a major part in the route to the development of a stalemate on the western front. I have come to realise that there is no single cause behind the Stalemate that began in 1914 on the Western Front but many which all contributed to the eventual outcome. The long term effects of the failure of the Schlieffen plan however lead me to believe that this is the most important reason the stalemate developed as it did. buy custom Organic Foods are Healthier essay

buy custom Organic Foods are Healthier essay Organic foods refer to foods that are naturally produced without the incorporation of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and involvement of genetically modified organisms. The foods only involve natural processes of production and pure use of natural, organic ingredients such as decomposed cow dung. Organic foods are healthier. For instance, they have a high nutrient level, do not contain residues of pesticides, and do not involve use additives. However, opponents claim that organic foods contain bacteria that are harmful to human health. This paper explicates the view that organic foods are healthier. Organic foods contain a higher level of nutrients. Research asserts that organic foods have a higher nutrient content compared to conventional foods. Organic foods have naturally occurring nutrients that are an exceptional boost to the health of individuals. They contain phyto-nutrients that are vital for full health (Dangour, 78). The natural fertilizers used are the main contributors to the higher nutrient levels. This is because organic food crops are able to self-sustain themselves and utilize more of the natural fertilizers to produce the enormous minerals. In addition, they contain vitamin C that is vital for healthy cartilage, healing of wounds and for strong bones and teeth. Organic foods contain antioxidants that are vital for the entire functions of the body. When all these nutrients combine, they form a strong base for an individuals health. They make all the body parts strong, and the individual is able to function and work well. This summed up makes organic foods healthi er. They do not contain residues of pesticides and synthetic chemicals. These foods are planted using naturally occurring fertilizers such as animals wastes combined with other inputs. They do not involve they use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, to boost their rate of growth. This means that they are safe for an individuals health (K.Winter and Davis, 123). The absence of pesticide use eliminates the presence of pesticides when they are ultimately harvested. These foods are those healthier because they do not pose health risks associated with chemicals. These chemicals are only found in the conventional foods. Organic foods thus contribute positively to an individuals health as they eliminate the risk of internal harm arising from the consumption of these chemicals. This means individuals are going to consume the foods on their way to full health. The absence of the chemical residues also means that other diseases associated with these chemicals would not attack individuals (Inst itute, 2). They will minimize cases of other diseases such as heart problems or even high blood pressure leading to a healthier generation. Research indicates that the absence of residues relating to chemicals has lead to reduced numbers of people living with the threats of being affected with diseases linked to the problem. Organic foods have led to the reduction in the level of additives that are intended to make food more appealing. The rule behind organic foods asserts that no additives should be incorporated in these foods. According to research, organic foods are viewed to promote better healthy especially among children because they do not encourage the use of additives such as flavors and artificial sweeteners (Fookes, 22). This would thus reduce the level of hyperactivity among most individuals. The elimination of additives from these foods is vital for healthier living among individuals all over the globe. Research asserts that the use of additives could lead to other related problems such as high blood pressure or even heart attacks among people. The lack of additives in these organic foods makes them healthy because of the elimination of the looming health risks arising from flavors or sweeteners (Institute, 4). These additives could lead to further health effects such as the rotting of the t eeth. This is especially common among the sweeteners. The ellimination of the use of additives by organic foods is vital as individuals lead a life free from health threats and fears. On the other hand, opponents claim that organic foods contain some bacteria, which could be, consumed leading to health problems. Those who oppose the view that organic food is healthier claim that this food is planted using natural chemicals leaving bacteria in them. They claim that some bacteria come up in the process of decomposing the natural fertilizers. They further claim that these foods are unchecked especially in matters relating to the control of bacterial levels (Dangour, 100). Research asserts that the fertilizers used are naturally processed without being treated. In this line, opponents claim that individuals end up consuming the bacteria in the food leading to the liver and kidney diseases. They claim that these foods are unfit for human consumption because they are not monitored and treated during their growth period. According to research conducted by critics, animal droppings are not safe and ready to use until treated. They thus hold to the position that these food s are not healthier due to their high bacteria levels. In conclusion, organic food is healthier. Individuals would grow healthier through the consumption of organic foods. This would be because they contain a higher level of nutrients. They contain nutrients such as Vitamin C, which leads to stronger cartilage and teeth. Organic foods are not associated with pesticide and chemical residue. This is because they are grown naturally using natural fertilizers. This ensures the chemicals leading to healthier leaving do not affect individuals. In addition, these foods discourage the use of additives such as food colors. On the other hand, critics assert that these foods have a higher level of bacteria. They claim that the bacterium is consumed by individuals leading to poor health. Organic commodities are healthier and should be adopted all over the globe for better living among individuals. 'Using a case study approach, critically appraise and evaluate Essay

'Using a case study approach, critically appraise and evaluate the nature of therapeutic interventions, in the management of a client's underlying condition or presenting symptom(s)' - Essay Example It is evident that owing to the busy schedule of individuals, people become unable to take care of themselves that can influence their health in a negative manner altogether (Suthakaran & Adithan, n.d.). Notably, as per the provided case, Mark is a patient who has been admitted to acute ward owing to his sudden collapse. Upon analysis of his past medical analysis, he was seen to be suffering from depression and anxiety, for which he chose pharmacological intervention over psychological treatment. Contextually, extensive secondary research study has been conducted for the research in depth where information will be collected from journals, literatures and research articles. The primary aim of the intervention includes identifying the potential benefits of therapeutic interventions with the combination of pharmacological and psychological interventions. As per the provided case study, an individual male at the age of 28 was admitted to acute ward after a sudden collapse at home. He was believed to be under the influence of extreme work pressure owing to which he developed an extreme level of stress. Past medical reports of the patient suggested that he was suffering from anxiety disorder and depression but was reluctant towards visiting psychologist. During the treatment of Mark in Acute ward, he showed negligible signs of any depression and anxiety despite of the aspect that he did not get any help from psychologists or any other healthcare professional in the past. He was in constant intake of Citalopram 40 mg on a daily basis. Correspondingly, it is believed that the patient and his symptoms regarding anxiety can be managed with the help of therapeutic intervention. Various noteworthy developments have been observed in the domain of nursing over the years. The profession have become one of the most prominent parts within the healthcare domain since
